Family test
A little help getting started.
Matchlight helps you find a movie or show for yourself, or something you’ll enjoy together. Ten minutes is plenty to try it and tell Nathan or Ellery what you think.
Start with your own account
Sign up
Open the family link, choose Create an account, and use your email. Open the confirmation email in the same browser, then sign in. Enter the invitation code Nathan or Ellery sent you when asked.
Tell us your taste
Create a profile, rate a few titles you know, and choose your genres, content ratings, and services. You can skip anything you’re unsure about.
Try your picks
Look through the top picks, then open a title for the match explanation and watch options. Save something to My list if you want to come back to it.
This private test is for adults in the United States. You don’t need a Vercel account or a streaming-service password to use Matchlight.
Your profile, or picks together
Choose your profile after signing in. Each account has room for six profiles, with separate ratings and preferences. Use the + to add someone, or Manage profiles to change a name or icon, or delete a profile.
For a shared pick, choose Combine and select two or more profiles. Each person should add their own ratings first. Open a result to compare everyone’s match and see why it was picked.
A match percentage describes how a title fits your saved taste; it isn’t a guarantee you’ll like it. Everyone signed in to the same account can open and edit its profiles. Use a separate account for another household.
Liked it, didn’t like it, haven’t seen it
- Quick ratings: swipe right if you liked it, left if you didn’t. The buttons do the same thing. Both choices mark the title watched.
- Never seen: skip that title and get another during setup. It doesn’t count as a dislike. Finish setup to save your choices.
- 1–10 ratings: use the slider for a more precise score. Watched is a separate choice here, so mark titles you’ve already seen.
- Already seen a recommendation? Mark it watched and check that Include titles I’ve already watched is off in your taste settings. Refresh your picks after saving.
You can change ratings and watched status later. Choosing or saving a title doesn’t mark it watched. A TV show’s watched mark applies to the whole title, not individual episodes.
Follow the watch options
Open a title and look under Where to watch. Service buttons open the provider’s page. Check whether an option is included with a subscription, free, a rental, or a purchase before watching.
Previously listed
An older listing with its original checked date. It may have changed; confirm it with the service.
Search all services / Amazon Video
A search to help you find more options. It isn’t a confirmed offer. Check the title, year, price, and availability in the results.
This is a selected collection, not every title on every service. Matchlight doesn’t play the movie or show, and a listed service doesn’t prove it’s included in your plan. See the catalog and artwork sources.
Something not working?
I can’t sign in or reset my password
Enter your email before choosing Forgot password. Check your spam folder and open the latest confirmation or reset email in the same browser. If the invitation code or email link stops working, ask Nathan or Ellery for help.
The page is checking my account or a save failed
Give the account check a moment, then use the retry button if one appears. Check your connection. If a save couldn’t be confirmed, use its safe retry option before leaving the page. If it keeps happening, tell Nathan or Ellery which page you were on and what the message said.
What feedback would be useful?
Tell us whether you found something you’d watch, whether the explanation made sense, and anything confusing or broken. A title name and a short description of what happened help. Use Share feedback or message Nathan or Ellery directly. It’s optional; there’s no need to finish a checklist.
Keep passwords, private email links, and other personal details out of your feedback and screenshots.
Your information and controls
Your email is used for sign-in and account recovery. Matchlight saves the profiles, ratings, preferences, lists, and choices you enter. It doesn’t connect to your streaming accounts or import their viewing history.
Optional app feedback is saved with your account and can be seen by anyone signed in to it and the Matchlight team. It is separate from the ratings that shape your picks.
Open Your data to download profile and shared history, download submitted feedback, and review account-deletion options and request status. Download anything you want to keep first. A deletion request is not the same as completed deletion; contact Nathan or Ellery if you need help.
Try a few picks. Let us know how it goes.
