How can we help?
Get started on your iPhone, fix a sign-in problem, or find out how your picks work.

Getting started on iPhone
Open Matchlight and sign in with your Matchlight email and password, or choose Create an account. Confirm your email on the same iPhone, complete the eligibility steps, then create a profile and rate a few titles to get your first picks.
Matchlight is for adults aged 18 and over in the United States. The app requires iOS 17 or later. Where Apple requires an age check, the app asks for an age range before showing the collection. If the app asks you to update iOS or retry the check, follow that message. Existing account help remains available.
How do I update the app or report a problem?
For an App Store installation, check Matchlight’s App Store page for an update. For a TestFlight installation, update through TestFlight.
Email Matchlight with what you tapped, what you expected, and what happened. Include your app version if you know it, and remove private information from screenshots.
Invited TestFlight testers
TestFlight is a separate way to try prerelease versions. These instructions apply only if you received a TestFlight invitation.
- Install TestFlight. On your iPhone, find Apple’s free TestFlight app in the App Store.
- Open your invitation.Open the TestFlight invitation email on that iPhone, choose View in TestFlight, and install Matchlight: Movies & TV.
- Sign in to Matchlight.Use your existing Matchlight email and password, or choose Create an account. If a private test asks for a Matchlight invitation code, use the code you were sent.
You don’t need to pay for Apple’s Developer Program or create a Vercel account. Your TestFlight invitation and your Matchlight account are separate.
Check the invited email address and its spam folder if you can’t find the invitation. If TestFlight says the build is full or unavailable, contact us. Please don’t forward private invitation links. The family testing guide has more testing tips.
Signing in or resetting your password
Sign in with the email address you used to create your Matchlight account. For a new account, choose Create an account and confirm your email. Public signup asks you to confirm that you are at least 18 and in the United States; it does not require an invitation code. A separately invited private test may still ask for its code.
In the iPhone app
Choose Forgot password and enter your email. Open the latest confirmation or reset email on the same iPhone where you requested it so the link can return to the app.
On the website
Enter your email before choosing Forgot password. Open the latest confirmation or reset email in the same browser where you started.
Check your spam folder if an email hasn’t arrived. If a link has expired or was already used, request a new one. You don’t need a Vercel or Apple Developer account to use Matchlight.
If an account check or save gets interrupted, check your connection and use the retry option shown. If it keeps happening, email us the exact message and whether you were using the app or website.
The email link won’t finish signing me in
Use the newest email and open it where you began: the same iPhone for the app, or the same browser for the website. An older or already-used link may no longer work.
If a fresh link still fails, return to Matchlight and request another one, then contact us if needed. Tell us the message you saw; don’t send the link itself. Changing your password on one device does not automatically open a signed-in session on another.
Profiles and recommendations
Choose your profile after signing in. Each account can have up to six profiles with separate tastes and ratings. Use Combine to choose profiles for shared recommendations.
Everyone who can sign into an account can open and manage its profiles. Use separate accounts if you don’t want to share account access.
Open a title to rate it or mark it watched. With rewatches turned off, watched titles leave your recommendations after you save and refresh your picks. A watched mark applies to the whole movie or show, not individual episodes. Saving a title to your list doesn’t mark it watched.
A match percentage describes how a title fits your saved tastes. It isn’t a guarantee you’ll like it. If a pick seems off, tell us the title and what didn’t fit.
Why do I see watched titles in Browse?
In the iPhone app, Picks contains your recommendations. Browse lets you search the full Matchlight collection, including watched titles. Your taste and content-rating choices shape Picks; they do not hide titles from Browse.
Search Browse by title, actor, director, creator, genre or year, and use Movies or TV shows to narrow the results. The collection is selected and won’t contain every movie or show.
I marked something watched by mistake
Choose the profile you were using, find the title in Browse, open it, expand Your rating, turn off Watched, then choose Save rating. Refresh your picks after the save finishes.
For personal ratings, switch out of Combine and choose the profile whose opinion you want to change. A high rating and a watched mark mean different things: you can love a title and still want a new recommendation.
Finding where to watch
Open a title and look for Where to watch. A service button opens the provider’s page. Matchlight helps you choose; it doesn’t play movies or shows.
Check the title, year, availability and price with the service before watching or paying. Some options need a subscription, rental or purchase. An older listing may have changed, and a search link is separate from a confirmed offer.
The catalog is a selected collection, not every title on every service. Matchlight doesn’t connect to your streaming accounts or import their viewing histories. View the catalog and artwork sources.
Your account and information
In the iPhone app, open Your account, choose Request account deletion and confirm. The request pauses access and the same screen shows its status. If you created a sign-in but haven’t finished setting up an account, the account-help screen provides a separate removal option.
Account deletion affects every profile under the account. Nathaniel King reviews requests daily, with a target of removing active account and sign-in data within seven days. We send a confirmation after that removal and communicate any delay. A request receipt does not mean all deletion steps are complete; the privacy policy explains retained safeguards, backups and deletion-case records.
To download your data or use the website’s account controls, open your account options here. You may need to sign in on the website. For help with a request, or if you can’t access the controls, email nathanking960@gmail.com.
Deleting the app from your phone does not delete your Matchlight account. Removing one profile is different from requesting deletion of the whole account.
Read our privacy policy for the information we use, how long we keep it, and your choices.
For a bug report, include the screen you were on, the message you saw and your app version if you know it. Screenshots can help; remove private information before sending them.
